Cilla Black commenced her eminent career as a TV host in 1968 at BBC Television when she starred in her own prime-time variety series Cilla which ran until 1976.
As a tribute to Cilla, BBC4 commissioned a new compilation show ‘Cilla at the BBC’ which celebrates the BBC’s coverage of Cilla’s ’60s pop star years on programmes like Peter Cook and Dudley Moore’s Not Only…But Also, The Ken Dodd Show, Top of the Pops and The Royal Variety Performance, before selecting golden moments from her series Cilla.
The show featuring many of Cilla’s greatest hits received glowing reviews on social media and brought in an audience of 956,000 which was the channels most watched show in 9pm slot in the past year.
