WellBeing
Charity evening at the Savoy Hotel - 3 Nov 2002 |
On December
15th 2002, Cilla presented a special BBCtv Appeal to help raise vital
funds needed by WellBeing the charity which supports health research for
women and babies. Broadcast on the BBCtv's ‘Lifeline’ it focused on
the charity’s research into ovarian cancer - known as the ‘silent
killer’, which claims the lives of many women each year.
"I’ve
realised that WellBeing’s work really does affect every single one
of us. It is so important that we continue to support its life-saving
work..." - Cilla
It was back
on April 25th 2002 at London's Regent Park that WellBeing launched Cilla
as their National Celebrity Patron when she joined mums, babies and
volunteers pledging her support. This was an important day for the
charity who had not had a high profile patron since the death of
Princess Diana in 1997. Their tireless campaigning over the last 38
years has already meant that over £18 million has been distributed to
scientists and researchers across the UK which included the first
Ovarian Cancer Research Centre.
