WRVS fundraising launch at St. James's Palace - 21 Mar 2005

On 21 March 2005, Cilla attended a reception held at St James's Palace by the WRVS (Womens Royal Voluntary Service) in the presence of Her Majesty The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. It celebrated the launch of the charity's latest fundraising campaign.

The WRVS has over 60 years experience of helping people in hundreds of communities throughout England, Scotland and Wales. Its volunteers and employees work together to support people in need who might otherwise feel lonely and isolated, whether at home, in hospital, or in times of crisis. Due to declining financial support from an existing central government grant it now makes it essential for WRVS to source new funding opportunities to support its services and volunteers in an increasingly 'needy' environment.

"It is always an absolute pleasure to support WRVS and the real work that all the volunteers do across Great Britain. I hope that events, like the Royal Reception will encourage more people to give their time and commitment to help the charity to go from strength to strength" - Cilla

Please visit the WRVS's website if you would like to support the work that they do by making a donation.
