DJ
Tommy Sandhu has long been associated with CB. He first appeared
as the voiceover replacing "Our Graham" on Cilla's ITV dating game show 'Blind Date'. The DJ then produced
the Liverpudlian's first ever club hit and more recently contributed
two crackin' club tracks for her latest EMI album 'Cilla
All Mixed Up'.
You may however be
wondering who is this guy? Well, Sandhu is an established club
DJ, music producer, TV presenter and now regular radio host on the
BBC Radio Asian Network.
In
2002, Sandhu managed to coax CB back into the
recording studio (at Ronnie Wood's house) to
re-record her 1960s pop hit 'Step Inside Love'.
Sandhu then remixed the song. 3,000 white labels
of the underground dance track were later
pressed under the name TS vs CB as a fun way to
celebrate CB's 60th birthday. To
everyone's "Surprise!, Surprise!" the
12" became a
#3 smash on the British club chart (Music Week).
The
good news for CB fans is all the original 2002
remixes are finally to receive a commercial
release. They are contained on what will be
Cilla's 38th UK single release
entitled "Step Inside Love: Tommy Sandhu
Remixes". The 5-track single is due out
worldwide on download on the 30
November 2009 and includes a sparkling new
remix.
