Record producer Sir George Martin, known as the “fifth Beatle”, has died, aged 90.
Sir George, had an illustrious career spanning five decades and his legendary production skills defined the sound of British popular music.
As well as producing The Beatles, Sir George also produced every single one of Cilla Black’s recordings for Parlophone Records between 1963-1973. This included three Top 10 original albums and eighteen Top 40 singles including two No.1 hits: “Anyone Who Had A Heart” & “You’re My World”.
Other notable artists who Sir George worked with included Dame Shirley Bassey, Celine Dion, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Elton John, Celine Dion, Kenny Rogers, Jeff Beck and Neil Sedaka.
