Cilla Black’s Singles – The EMI Records Years (1974-1978)

cilla-black-emi-years-singles

By 1974, Cilla Black had completed her 10-year recording contract with Parlophone Records. She re-signed that year to the label’s parent company, EMI Records. A significant change of the new signing was Cilla would no longer work with her long-time producer George Martin, who was unable to continue working with Cilla due to his ever increasing work commitments. Cilla would instead collaborate with two new music producers: 1) David Mackay, who developed a new “laid back” easy listening style for Cilla and 2) Mike Hurst who introduced her to a radically different “disco” sound. Cilla parted way with the EMI Group in 1978 to focus her attention on her television work and growing family.

Note: All British Cilla Black Singles released during this era did not have picture sleeve covers.
